  • 1. What is the “Buen Fin”?

    The “Buen Fin” is an annual event jointly created by the Mexican federal government and several private companies in order to boost consumer spending during a designated number of days during which stores and businesses all over Mexico offer discounts and promotions on their products and services.

    The Buen Fin is modeled on the United States’ “Black Friday”, and it was first held from the 18th to the 21st of November 2011.

    2. Who oversees the “Buen Fin”?

    The Ministry of Economy and the Federal Consumer Protection Attorney’s Office (PROFECO).

    3. What are the pros and cons of participating in the “Buen Fin”?

    Participating in the “Buen Fin” has advantages such as exposure and high sales; however, the following table presents both the advantages and disadvantages of participating in this sales event.



    • Registration to the “Buen Fin” is quick and easy.
    • You must register in order to use the “Buen Fin” logotype.
    • The registration process generates a list of participating shops and businesses which can be seen by consumers. This exposure drives people to visit your physical location and website.
    • After registration, those who wish to participate this year’s “Buen Fin” event will be allowed to download and use the brand identity manual and official logotype.

    • Use of the official logotype without registration is considered false advertising.
    • After registration to the “Buen Fin”, you will have free access to material and training programs for online sales.
    • Those who register for the “Buen Fin” will participate in the SAT’s raffle.
    • Those who register may request PROFECO to review their advertising of the offers and other advertising materials for the “Buen Fin” to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Those who register may request PROFECO to enroll them in ConciliaExprés to speed up their customer service and conflict resolution. PROFECO will assign a liaison and provide their full name, position, e-mail, and phone number.

    Additional Support

    The “Buen Fin” 2021 offers specific support for SMEs1 such as: (1) training for online sales, and (2) creation of special offers and discounts so that SMEs gain experience in selling online competitively.

    4. When is the “Buen Fin”?

    This year, the “Buen Fin” will be held for 7 (seven) days, from the 10th to the 16th of November.

    5. What do I need to participate in the “Buen Fin”?

    • To register, go to the “El Buen Fin”2 web portal (https:// elbuenfin.org). You will need: (i) To be a duly incorporated natural or legal person; (ii) To have a current, valid RFC number; (iii) To have a valid Tax Mailbox; and (iii) To have a positive certificate of compliance with tax obligations.
    • Registration is open from the 22nd of September to the 9th of November 2021 at 23:59:59.
    • Advertise specific offers or promotions for your products and services that are valid only from the duration of the “Buen Fin”, from the 10th to the 16th of November
    • Do not modify the brand or logotype of “El Buen Fin”, which is a trademark of the Secretariat of
    • After registration, download the Brand Identity Manual and the official logotype of #ElBuenFin to add them to the advertising campaign, whether online or in
    • Ensure the clarity of your promotions: your prices should include the VAT to avoid misunderstandings or false

    Wrong use of the Trademark and Logotype of the “El Buen Fin” will constitute an administrative infraction that will be penalized in accordance with the applicable laws.

    6. Is registration to the “Buen Fin” the same as participation in the raffle?

    No. Registration allows you to use the trademark of the event, while the raffle is a separate event organized by the SAT to reward and encourage formal economy.

    The “Buen Fin” raffle prize has a total value of 500 million Mexican pesos that will be divided in more than 326 thousand prizes for the small and medium-sized enterprises registered to the “Buen Fin”. You will be participating in the SAT’s raffle upon registration.

    The raffle will take place on the 10th of December and will be livestreamed through FB: @satmexico, TW: @SATMX and IG: @satmx.

    You may include your logotype in the “Advertising Carousel” at www.elbuenfin.org, provided that you follow the technical specifications in the manual.
